Author.Inc vs. Kevin Anderson & Associates

Your voice, or a very good imitation.

We record you and build the manuscript from your own words. Kevin Anderson & Associates assigns a ghostwriter.

Kevin Anderson & Associates' rates, process, and policies on this page come from ka-writing.com as of August 2026, quoted from their published pages.
The two models

A recording, or a rendering

Author.Inc builds the manuscript from you. The idea is pressure-tested with your readers, you speak the book across two recorded days with a Book Director, and the first draft arrives within two weeks of the final session, built from your own recorded words. The editorial process behind it was built by a 4x New York Times bestselling editor, and the voice that survives it is yours.

Kevin Anderson & Associates builds the manuscript from interviews. You talk with an assigned ghostwriter, the ghostwriter writes, and you review another writer's version of your thinking in weekly or biweekly batches over four to nine months. The writers are good. That was never the question.

"Your level of involvement is entirely up to you. You can opt to work closely with your ghostwriter, or simply provide them with basic information and let them do the rest of the work."
Kevin Anderson & Associates, ghostwriting FAQ

They offer minimal involvement as a feature. Our entire process exists because a book in your voice needs you in the room.

"We cannot guarantee that you will receive a book deal or secure a literary agent to represent you."
Kevin Anderson & Associates, publishing consultancy page

An honest disclaimer, and worth reading before spending six figures on a path that can end at a query letter.

The signature difference

A photocopy of a photocopy

Nobody knows your industry, your buyers, and your frameworks better than you do. A ghostwritten book reproduces that knowledge through interviews, notes, and another writer's understanding, and every handoff loses resolution.

Author.Inc · The Original
First generation · from the source
You speak the book across two recorded days, and the manuscript is built from your own recorded words. One generation sits between what you know and what the reader holds.
Kevin Anderson & Associates · The Copies
Each handoff, another generation
Every copy is made from the copy before it, and each generation holds less. Your industry, your buyers, and your frameworks are the one subject no hired writer can know better than you.

The book is best coming from you. Writing it yourself is no longer the price.

An illustration. Process characterization from Kevin Anderson & Associates' published FAQ and services pages: an assigned ghostwriter drafts the manuscript from ongoing interviews.
What the money buys

One number, or a ladder

Both firms publish pricing, which is rare in this industry and worth crediting. The difference is what moves when the number moves.

Author.Inc
$75,000

Everything in one number: idea validation with your readers, two recording days, the full editorial cycle, custom cover and interior design, publishing with 100% of rights and royalties, launch strategy to your first 1,000 copies, and twelve months of weekly advisory calls with Charlie Hoehn.

Their ladder, from their rates page
Premier
$57,500 to $95,000

An experienced or published writer, a senior editor, and two years of publishing navigation. Beta readers, the line edit, and the book proposal cost extra.

Executive
$115,000 to $250,000

A bestselling or widely published writer, beta readers included, bestseller list targeting, and agent solicitation at their discretion.

Black Card
Price on inquiry

Any caliber of writer, including #1 New York Times bestselling authors, with ongoing navigation and expanded beta testing.

Climbing their ladder upgrades the résumé of the person writing your book. The deliverable at every rung is the same thing: a manuscript in someone else's words.

Rates and inclusions from ka-writing.com/rates as of August 2026. À la carte items on the same page: full-manuscript beta testing $7,500, a standard Executive-tier book proposal from $30,000, and a Blueprint strategy day at $4,500 to $7,500.
A fair account

When Kevin Anderson & Associates is the right choice

Work with us if the book is a business asset

You want the book in your own voice, on a known timeline, owned outright, and built to produce clients, speaking, and authority for years. You are willing to give it two recorded days and real decisions. That is the whole company, and the buyer we take on.

KAA fits if the writer is the purchase

You want a top-shelf ghostwriter with named former Big-5 editors behind them, you may want a run at a traditional deal, and you are comfortable with a manuscript built from interviews. They do that work with credible people, their rights posture is clean, and their published rates are honest in a murky category.

Questions founders ask

Author.Inc vs. Kevin Anderson & Associates, answered

Who writes the book at each firm?+

At Author.Inc, you do. You speak the book across two recorded days and the manuscript is built from your own recorded words, so the voice on the page is yours. Kevin Anderson & Associates assigns a ghostwriter who drafts from ongoing interviews, and you review that writer's version of your thinking in batches.

What does Kevin Anderson & Associates cost?+

Author.Inc's signature service is $75,000 with writing, editing, publishing, and marketing included. KAA just includes the writing, not publishing. Their ghostwriting rates are on their site: Premier at $57,500 to $95,000, Executive at $115,000 to $250,000, and a Black Card tier priced on inquiry, with beta readers, the book proposal, and the strategy day priced separately.

Will the book sound like me?+

An Author.Inc manuscript starts as your own recorded speech, so your cadence, stories, and arguments survive to the page. A ghostwritten manuscript is a skilled writer's rendering of interviews, and KAA's own FAQ says you can simply provide basic information and let the writer do the rest. The less of you that goes in, the less of you that comes out.

How long does each take?+

Author.Inc authors typically average writing and publishing their book within 6 to 8 months. KAA's FAQ says a 50,000-word manuscript takes four to nine months to develop, and their consultancy page notes a traditional publishing path can add months to years after that.

Do I keep my rights?+

At both firms, yes. Author.Inc registers the copyright and ISBN in your name, and KAA's FAQ states they retain no rights whatsoever. The difference arrives if you pursue the traditional deal KAA can navigate you toward: a publisher then holds publication rights and pays a royalty, and their FAQ is honest that a deal cannot be guaranteed.

What happens after the manuscript is done?+

Author.Inc publishes the book and stays on it: launch strategy aimed at your first 1,000 copies and twelve months of weekly advisory calls with Charlie Hoehn. KAA includes two years of publishing industry navigation, which covers query materials, agent lists, and introductions. Neither the manuscript nor the navigation is accountable for what the book returns to your business, and at Author.Inc that return is the point.
